  • Getting children active-

    why it really matters...

"There is a wealth of evidence to support the physiological benefits of exercise in children- including promoting cardiovascular health, improving bone condition and contributing to maintaining a healthy weight. It also helps develop movement and coordination. Encouraging activity allows children to develop and learn social skills and promotes health in later life."

    Dr Bernadette Clyde

    General Practitioner

"The importance of exercise for children cannot be overstated. Whether it is general fitness and movement, or sport specific such as tennis, the long term benefits are huge. Discipline, dedication, and hard work can all be mastered through sport and exercise and transferred to other areas throughout their life."

    Clive Carrigan

Master Professional Tennis Coach, European Coach Junior Pro Squad

"Sport undoubtedly helps young children maintain healthy lifestyles: it encourages the learning of new skills, and promotes physical and social interaction with their peers.

Sport can also help unearth a child's own unique talents- this in turn can help grow their confidence and self-belief for the future."

    Steven Tigg

Head Performance Swimming Coach & Olympic Swimming Coach

University of Stirling National Swimming Academy

"Sport is so important for kids.

It allows them to socialise, have fun and get exposed to various different types of exercise. They develop new skills that they can harness in later life.

In my experience kids who regularly participate in sport evolve to become far more confident in adulthood."

    Dan Jefferson

Physical Performance Coach, Scottish Institute of Sport

Strength & Conditioning Coach, Jefferson Performance

"I have been lucky enough to see what sport can do for young athletes and the incredible opportunities that it can provide.

Confidence, communication, travel and exposure to different cultures are just a few of these things."

    Blair Cartmell

    Triathlete Coach, Lead Performance Coach

    Founder of New Triathlon

"In my experience of playing tennis and now coaching tennis for over 15 years it has become evident to me that it is one of the toughest, but also one of the most rewarding sports for children.

Being an individual sport, tennis makes the person solely accountable for their actions. It teaches children perseverance, discipline and self control.

As well as the fitness benefits tennis brings, it also teaches children how to deal with winning and losing."
